Comments: Although uncommon in our area, this diminutive Helvella is extremely distinctive and we were looking forward to comparing genetic fingerprints with the similar European species H. macropus. However for reasons that are still unclear, neither of two rounds of extraction and sequencing produced readable DNA, and we will need to explore other options before attempting any other Helvella.
